Cabin Information
-
What should we bring?Bring your clothes, food, and drinks, and you'll be just fine. The cabin is supplied with a starter supply of everyday household items. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils and cookware. If you think you or your group will consume a lot of an item, then bring extra. Seasonally, mud boots in the spring and slippers in Fall & Winter (slate floors are chilly).
-
Is there hot water? What about heating and air conditioning? There is hot and cold water available at the cabin. At certain times the water at the cabin can have a sulfur smell -- it's part of dealing with well water in a country setting. We filter and soften the water; however, we don't recommend drinking the water at this time. A water dispenser is available on-site for an eco-friendly way of supplying drinking water. Please feel free to bring your own if you prefer. There is a furnace on-site to heat the cabin, as well as a large fireplace to enjoy! There is no air conditioning in the cabin during the summer months. The cabin can get warm, but the forest itself also provides quite a bit of shade. There are also a couple of fans available for use.
-
Is there firewood?Yes, for now... We do provide firewood that is locally sourced at this time. We fully support gathering around a fire with family and friends -- it creates beautiful moments. Inside or Outside. We try our best at obtaining dry wood but it can sometimes be a challenge. If you prefer a maintenance free fire setting then you can purchase a Duraflame log at the local harware or big box store. There are also small bundles of wood available at most gas stations in the area.
-
Is there cable TV? Wi-Fi? Will my cell phone have signal? There is a TV on-site; however, it currently does not get any TV stations and is not hooked up to satellite or cable services. A DVD Player and games are available. Wi-Fi is an amenity that we feel isn't necessary for our neck-of-the-woods (pun intended). This world can be crazy, and it's gotten crazier -- we challenge you to disconnect. Verizon-based cell phones work great. All other cell providers require a short drive or hike to obtain service. There is currently no phone at the cabin.
